In today’s competitive landscape, a solid understanding of who you are, what you do, and where you’re going is imperative to your credit union’s future success. To achieve a solid understanding of your present and future direction, you must continually plan, analyze, review, and report your financial and operational condition.
Regulators expect the management team and the Board of Directors to have a sound grasp of the risks presented by your credit union’s structure and activities. In addition, they expect management to develop procedures and strategies for measuring, monitoring, and controlling the risks on an on-going basis. This can only be achieved through on-going planning, analysis, review, and reporting.
As your credit union, Volunteer Corporate is aware that many of you are unable to allocate the time and/or resources to achieve an optimal amount of planning, analysis, and reporting for your credit union. Most often, external pressures and demands cause managers to take a reactive approach to these important issues rather than a proactive one. VolCorp understands this problem and we have a solution.
VolCorp’s Consulting Service offers experienced staff and a broad base of services that will provide the necessary tools to help you plan, direct and control your credit union’s future.
Asset-Liability Management:
Sound asset-liability management (ALM) is vital to maintain consistent earnings and manage interest rate risk. Material weaknesses in your credit union’s asset-liability structure can cause significant declines in profitability, adversely impact the market value of assets, and cause material deterioration of capital. VolCorp provides an ALM choice for all credit unions regardless of size or balance sheet complexity.
ALM Analysis:
Reports include Current and Historical Key Trends and Ratios, estimated CAMEL, ROA Analysis, and One-year Cumulative Gap. The reporting package includes charts that graphically illustrate Capital Trends, Capital Use, Asset Growth, Loan Growth, Investment Mix, Share Mix, Delinquencies, Charge-offs, Operating Expenses, Net Interest Income, and Net ROA. A narrative overview provides insight on the most critical trends facing your credit union. This service is offered monthly (reports only), quarterly, and semi-annually.
ALM Modeling:
Utilizing state-of-the-art ALM software, VolCorp can provide balance sheet interest rate risk analysis using sensitivity and maturity gap, income simulation, and net economic valuation (NEV). These reports will enable you to monitor interest rate risk under current and anticipated interest rates. In addition to meeting regulatory requirements, the service can provide forecasting reports to assist in Strategic Planning, Budgeting, and Liquidity Management.

Strategic Planning Facilitation:
We are all aware of the importance of strategic planning. It is essential for your Board of Directors and key management staff to systematically plan and develop short- and long-term goals for the credit union. However, it is often difficult to sit back and make an unbiased assessment of the credit union. As an independent, third-party facilitator, VolCorp can help you look at your credit union from a different point of view, providing fresh insights into your operation and helping you better chart your future.
ACH Audits:
VolCorp is available to perform your annual ACH audit in compliance with the provisions of the ACH Operating Rules. Additional ACH services include development of an ACH procedures manual and ACH staff training.
Statement Reconciliation:
Adequate balancing procedures are critical in your credit union’s day-to-day operations. We can provide you with balancing procedures for member services and products, such as: share drafts, ACH transactions, Debit and ATM cards and ATMs owned by the credit union.
Investment Advisory Service:
This service was developed to give your credit union access to highly-trained staff in the area of investments and related analysis. With this service, you can obtain assistance with your investment policies, consultation on procedures, portfolio evaluation and recommendations, training for staff and directors, as well as evaluation of specific instruments and strategies.
