Volunteer Corporate Credit Union
Takes Item Processing Out of State
with Great Success

6/27/05

NASHVILLE - - Out of state credit unions are taking notice of Volunteer Corporate Credit Union’s (VolCorp) item processing services. Conversion was completed in May of this year for Fedmont Federal Credit Union located in Montgomery, Alabama. According to Bruce Burleson, Fedmont FCU CEO, “A major factor in our decision (to convert) was the economies realized and improved investment returns.” With the Federal Reserve consolidating check processing services, VolCorp can now serve credit unions in several Federal Reserve districts.

Unlike other share draft processors, VolCorp’s program offers the complete package including extensive cost analysis, testing, training, and marketing assistance in addition to making share draft images available. And, with three state of the art reader-sorters that are fully image capable, they handle more than 5.425 million items monthly representing 146 member credit unions using this service.

Fedmont FCU CEO, Bruce Burleson, also had this to say, “As a direct descendant of ‘Doubting Thomas’, I was initially hesitant to face another share draft processor conversion. However, after over a year’s association with VolCorp, I realized their eagerness to please members was not just a ‘flash in the pan’. The on-site assistance provided on D-Day was invaluable and highly effective in ensuring a smooth transition. If we had to be billed for such service, we couldn’t have afforded it. Since then, I have learned there is no ‘honeymoon’ period for VolCorp members, it’s consistent, outstanding service no matter what our need.”

Columbus Air Force Base Federal Credit Union located in Columbus, Mississippi, converted their share draft program to VolCorp in 2004. And, most recently, VolCorp has a commitment from Fort Campbell Federal Credit Union located in Clarksville, Tennessee, to convert their in-house program as well. VolCorp is now the share draft processor for all but one credit union in Tennessee and is committed to providing share draft processing to credit unions within the Memphis, Nashville and Atlanta Federal Reserve districts.

VolCorp currently serves credit unions in Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, Illinois, and West Virginia.
