Congressman Jim Cooper Tours VolCorp’s Operations & Facility

11/29/04

NASHVILLE, TN–

VolCorp recently hosted Congressman Jim Cooper for a tour of the VolCorp facility, which included a hands-on demonstration of VolCorp’s Item Processing operation. Bruce Fahnestock, President & CEO of VolCorp, presented Congressman Cooper with an overview of the strategic mission of VolCorp in providing wholesale financial services to our member credit unions which ultimately helps individual credit union members.

Representative Cooper acknowledged the partnership between corporate credit unions and their member credit unions as another example of the cooperative spirit in the credit union industry in providing low cost financial services to individual members.

After the tour, Congressman Cooper participated in a round table discussion with several credit union managers. Topics discussed included how credit unions are reaching out to serve the underserved in their community and providing affordable financial services to the Spanish-speaking population of the area.

Congressman Cooper serves the 5th district for Tennessee in the U.S. House of Representatives. He currently serves on three different committees: the Armed Services Committee (including the Terrorism and Special Forces Subcommittee), the Budget Committee, and the Government Reform Committee. He continues to offer support to the credit unions in his district.

VolCorp has over $1.4 billion in total assets and is one of 29 corporate credit unions nationwide making up the Corporate Credit Union Network.
